What are LinkedIn Sales Navigator URLs, Company IDs, and Company Public URLs?
When working with LinkedIn data, you'll encounter three types of company identifiers:
- LinkedIn Company Public URL - This is the standard LinkedIn Company Page URL that anyone can access. It follows this format:
https://www.linkedin.com/company/company-name
. It’s ideal for external sharing and easy reference. However, companies can change their public URLs at any time, which may cause outdated links. - LinkedIn Sales Navigator URL - This is a URL generated for LinkedIn Sales Navigator users. It follows a unique structure and contains a Company ID for internal tracking. It looks like this:
https://www.linkedin.com/sales/company/69842428
. These URLs are not publicly accessible and require a LinkedIn Sales Navigator subscription to view. - LinkedIn Company ID - The Company ID is a unique identifier assigned by LinkedIn to each company. Example: 69842428. This ID never changes, even if the company updates its public LinkedIn URL. That’s why many CRM systems store it for stable tracking.
If you look at it, the LinkedIn Sales Navigator URL contains the LinkedIn Company ID. In this tutorial, you will learn how to get the LinkedIn Company Public URL from the Company ID (or the LinkedIn Sales Navigator URL).
How to get the LinkedIn Company URL from the Sales Navigator URL
This is a step-by-step approach on how to convert a list of Sales Navigator URLs into LinkedIn Company URLs.
We will work with a CSV or Excel file that contains all the LinkedIn Sales Navigator URLs to convert.
Your input has to follow one of these formats:
https://www.linkedin.com/company/69842428
https://www.linkedin.com/sales/accounts/insights?companyId=69842428
https://www.linkedin.com/sales/company/69842428
The result LinkedIn Company URL will follow this format: https://www.linkedin.com/company/company-name
We will use the Datablist Enrichment called Company Domain/Website and LinkedIn Company Page Matcher.
It returns the Company Name, Website, and Standardized LinkedIn Company URL from a LinkedIn Sales Navigator URL.
Step 1: Import your list of LinkedIn Sales Navigator URLs
First, you have to import your list of URLs into Datablist.
Datablist is an AI-powered tool that streamlines go-to-market activities. It automates key tasks like data enrichment, list cleaning, content formatting, and email personalization to help sales and marketing teams work more efficiently.
Make sure your file contains a column with the Company Sales Navigator URLs.
Note: If you only have the LinkedIn Company ID, create a new Text property, and use the Datablist Bulk Edit feature (Edit -> Bulk Edit) to generate URLs such as
https://www.linkedin.com/company/{{company_id}}
In my file, the column is called “Company_Sales_Nav_ID”.
They follow usually these formats:
https://www.linkedin.com/company/69842428
https://www.linkedin.com/sales/accounts/insights?companyId=69842428
https://www.linkedin.com/sales/company/69842428
Step 2: Get the LinkedIn Company URL from their Sales Navigator URL
Click on the “Enrich” button in the header.
Select the “Company Domain/Website and LinkedIn Company Page Matcher”.
In the enrichment settings, select Get the company website from the LinkedIn Company Page URL (second option) and select the property that contains your Company Sales Navigator URLs as the input property.
Note: In addition to the company website, you will also have the regular LinkedIn Company URL using this setting.
The enrichment adds a Run Status
property to track the enrichment progress, credit cost, and potential errors.
In the outputs, be sure to add the "Company LinkedIn URL" output. This is the regular LinkedIn Company URL that we will get from the Sales Navigator URL.
Now you can configure your run settings by choosing between these options:
- Run it in Async (in the cloud)
- Test on the first 10 items
- Run only on the first 10, first 100, or configure it yourself
And voilà! You've got your desired output: LinkedIn Company Page URLs.
Note: Used enrichments in this guide: Credits spent on this guide: 1000 Credits for 100 records ≈ $1 - Check Datablist Credit System.
Now that you have your results, you may want to understand when to use them.
What’s the difference between the Sales Navigator URL and the LinkedIn Company Page URL?
The difference between the Sales Navigator URL and the LinkedIn Page URL is that the Sales Navigator URL is actually an ID assigned by LinkedIn and used for their internal tracking and CRM integrations while the Company Page URL is a Public URL used by Google and other search engines.
Public Company LinkedIn URL
A Public LinkedIn URL is the one you see when you visit a company page from a Google search or LinkedIn’s free version.
It usually follows this format: www.linkedin.com/company/company-name
.
- This URL is static and easy to share, making it ideal for manual prospecting or referencing profiles.
- However, public URLs can be changed by the page owner at any time, which can create inconsistencies when tracking prospects. If the page owner updates their LinkedIn link, the old public URL will no longer work, leading to 404 errors in your CRM.
Unique Company LinkedIn ID URL (Sales Navigator URL)
A Unique LinkedIn ID URL is different from a public URL because it includes a unique identifier assigned by LinkedIn.
- This ID never changes, even if the page owner updates the public LinkedIn URL.
- Sales Navigator and LinkedIn’s API use this ID-based URL for internal tracking, making it the best option for integrating LinkedIn data into CRM systems.
Why Does This Matter?
When exporting accounts from Sales Navigator, you’ll typically get the Unique ID URL, not the public URL.
If you’re enriching LinkedIn data outside of LinkedIn (using third-party tools e.g. Octave), you need to convert Unique IDs into Public URLs for better usability.
Pro Tip: Always store Unique ID URLs in your CRM for long-term tracking. Since public LinkedIn URLs can change, relying on them may result in accounts and broken links.
How to convert LinkedIn Company Ids to LinkedIn Company URLs manually
If you have a single LinkedIn Sales Navigator URL and want to find the public LinkedIn Company URL, you can do it manually using the following method:
- Take the Company ID from the Sales Navigator URL.
- Use the format:
https://www.linkedin.com/company/company-id
(ex: https://www.linkedin.com/company/69842428) - Open this URL in your browser while logged into LinkedIn.
- LinkedIn will automatically redirect you to the company’s public LinkedIn page.
For example, if your LinkedIn Company ID is 69842428
. Go to https://www.linkedin.com/company/69842428
.
Visiting this URL while logged in will redirect you to: https://www.linkedin.com/company/datablist
This method is useful for one-off lookups but is not scalable for large datasets. To convert multiple LinkedIn IDs or Sales Navigator URLs in bulk, use Datablist for automation.
